This class is for the true beginner and those needing a refresher on the basic operation of your camera. This intermediate-level sewing course is designed for students with prior sewing experience who are ready to expand their skills through creative upcycling and garment reconstruction. This is not a beginner class. Over six weeks, students will learn how to deconstruct and redesign existing garments — such as denim, woven shirts and blazers — into fashion-forward pieces using professional construction techniques. The course emphasizes sustainable fashion practices, design thinking and creative problem-solving. Students will complete multiple upcycled projects and a final showcase-ready garment. Sewing machines and basic supplies are provided. Students may bring their own machines if preferred (new machines welcome — setup assistance will be provided). Supplemental fabrics, denim, trims, buttons and embellishments are included.
