This 9 credit hour certificate program offers advanced plant, pest, and disease identification skills to individuals who are seeking a career in the Green Industry. The certificate is also helpful to those who are already employed in the Green Industry and have a desire to upgrade their identification knowledge and skills to be a valuable team member. This certificate will also prepare students to gain their Ohio Department of Agriculture's Pesticide Applicators License.

- ENG-0995 Applied College Literacies or appropriate score on English Placement Test.

This program is designed to prepare students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
- Identify and describe cultural conditions for over 500 different ornamental landscape plants commonly found in the Green Industry.
- Demonstrate knowledge of plants and Integrated Pest Management programs to identify, correct, and/or prevent plant disease, insect pest, and physiologic issues as a part of an Integrated Plant Health Care Program and be prepared to pass the State of Ohio Pesticide Core Exam.
- Apply knowledge of deciduous, evergreen, and herbaceous plants, their growing habits and needs to determine appropriate placement within the landscape.

MATH-1140, MATH-1141, MATH-1200, MATH-1270, and MATH-1280 can no longer count towards fulfilling the college-level mathematics requirement. These courses were re-classified as developmental mathematics by the state of Ohio in 2016. Tri-C established a 5-year transitioning window for students who had completed these courses prior to 2016 to apply them towards meeting graduation requirements, which expired in Summer 2021. It is highly recommended to see a counselor to determine the appropriate math required for your current major.
