About: With over 30 years of combined industry experience in fitness, community wellness, sports medicine and higher education, Genevieve Luca is dedicated to fostering a student-centered classroom. She encourages an environment based on experiential learning and collaboration with an energetic and passionate approach to the education of students, clients and the community on health and wellness. About: Dr. Phillips has been in the health and wellness industry for over 40 years serving in roles ranging from yoga & group fitness instructor, exercise physiologist/personal trainer, to Wellness Manager, health & wellness coach, and mind/body facilitator through reiki, meditation and mindfulness offerings.
Christine completed her non-clinical Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from Walden University and her master's degree in Exercise Science from Cleveland State University. She completed Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training from UMass Memorial Health Center for Mindfulness and the Silva Method of Mind Development from The Hermitage in Indiana. She most recently has been training with the HeartMath™ Institute for Health Professionals studying heart rate variability and its impact on health and longevity.
Christine has taught at Tri-C off and on since 1992, taking a short leave to teach for the Maricopa Community College District in Arizona for 5 years. She has a passion for teaching and strives to provide an inclusive, engaging classroom in not only the SES program, but also in Psychology, Physical Education, and Health. She also implemented the personal training and wellness coaching non-credit offerings in the Recreation Department. One of her favorite classes to teach is a nationally accredited health and wellness coach training class that is necessary for individuals to sit for the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaches Certification.
She is honored to serve the college, community and students not only through her credit and non-credit contributions, but also through helping organize health and wellness events on and off campus, speaking and presenting knowledge and expertise in colleagues classrooms as well as participating in committees both through faculty senate and college-wide committees.
