About: Rebecca Carte came to Tri-C as an assistant professor of Spanish in 2014, but her love for language and literature started long before that, on a family trip to Mexico in the 1980s. Her education and work have taken her to Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Spain, Guatemala, Panama, Cuba and Brazil.
Carte grew up in the Cleveland area and jumped at the chance to teach at the Metro Campus, where she enjoys meeting students of all ages and backgrounds. In addition to sharing her love for languages and cultures, she enjoys working with the College’s honors students and helping to facilitate the Collegewide Common Reading Program. She has published a monograph and several articles on Latin American literature and Colonial era Spanish texts of exploration, but her number one passion is — and always will be — teaching. From basic language skills to literary and cultural studies, Carte finds Spanish rewarding at every level. She loves hearing about her students’ language and travel goals.
