About: Kolleen Barnes is an assistant professor in the Captioning and Court Reporting Program at Cuyahoga Community College. Prof. Barnes received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development from Empire State College, an Associate of Applied Business degree in Court Reporting from the Academy of Court Reporting, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. Prof. Barnes was self-employed as a freelance court reporter for over ten years before joining the full-time faculty at Tri-C. 

Barnes has been recognized for her contributions to the field with numerous awards: Educator of the Year for the National Court Reporters Association, Outstanding Associate Member of the Year for the Ohio Court Reporters Association, Online Course of the Year from the Instructional Technology Council and the Sloan Consortium Effective Practice Award for the design and implementation of educational activities to help students retain their skills during semester breaks. Barnes particularly enjoys using instructional technology and online learning to help students from all over the country gain their court reporting education.

About: 

Dr. Jen Krueger earned a Ph.D in education after earlier earning her Associate of Applied Business Degree in Court Reporting, a Bachelor of Science, and a Master of Education degree. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Professional Reporters and holds the RMR, CRI, and CPE certifications from the National Court Reporting Association (NCRA). Dr. Krueger also holds the CER and CDR certifications from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers and is a member of those organizations along with the Ohio Court Reporters Association, the National Verbatim Reporters Association, and STAR, the Steno/Technology/Agencies/Reporters group. She is the proud recipient of many awards including the following: most recently  the CCC-AAUP Award for Meaning; National Court Reporter’s Association CASE Award for Excellence, Instructor of the Year; NCRA’s JCR Award for Technology Use; Cuyahoga Community College, Captioning and Court Reporting Program, Advisory Committee of the Year; Sloan Consortium Effective Practice Award; Blackboard Exemplary Online Course of the Year; and the Ohio Court Reporters Association Martin Fincun Award for Outstanding Performance

Dr. Krueger worked as a freelance court reporter for 15 years and has been a professor at Tri-C for more than 30 years. She has facilitated countless seminars, workshops, and webinars for professional organizations, has written numerous articles for NCRA’s JCR and AAERT’s Soundbytes publications, and designed curricula for court reporting education.

Moranz, Kelly

About: Kelly Moranz is certified as a Certified Reporting Instructor with the National Court Reporters Association, along with a Certified Electronic Reporter and Certified Deposition Reporter from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT). She has worked in a variety of capacities within the court reporting profession for more than 35 years, including teaching for more than 17 years at Tri-C.

Moranz has presented numerous seminars on various topics for national and state industry organizations and served on their committees. Moranz is currently a member of the NCRA, NVRA, AAERT, OCRA, VRAO and NACM. She also earned Tri-C’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015, NCRA’s Educator of the Year Award in 2016 and Tri-C’s Professional Excellence Award in 2017. Moranz looks forward to assisting students along this exciting career path.
